In practice, there are several groups of protection methods, including: physical and software obstruction of the intended thief; control or influence on elements of the protected system; masking, or data conversion, usually by cryptographic means; and the method I use is tokenization. I usually order this service from trusted data tokenization vendors. You can too, if you need it.
